Game guide, saves and data sources

Learn how to play 80億分之一, continue a saved life, move records between devices and share a story. Explore the public-data references and assumptions behind the simulation.

Start a life

A different beginning, a life of your own

80億分之一 is a free browser life simulation available in Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. No account or download is needed. A random birthplace and family set the scene; text events, choices and chance shape childhood, education, work, relationships and later life.

Start in three steps

Open the home page and choose an era, a birth-weighting method and a pace. Start a new life or resume one saved in this browser. You can pause, change speed and turn on automatic decisions during play.

  1. Choose your settings and discover your birthplace and family.

  2. Read events, set a yearly focus and make key decisions.

  3. Review the ending and choose whether to share it.

How choices shape a life

From age six, choose a yearly focus such as study, friends, health or rest; available priorities change with life stages. Decisions affect health, happiness, knowledge, relationships and finances. Background and chance still matter, and no option guarantees success.

Yearly priorities include study, friends, health, family, work, love and rest.
Some are available only at particular life stages. Read your character’s circumstances and choose what matters to them this year.

Save, resume and move your records

The current life, preferences and up to 30 finished-life recaps are saved in this browser. Return on the same browser to continue. Use “Move records” in the footer to export a transfer code and import it on another device; importing replaces that device’s existing records. There is no automatic cloud sync. Clearing browser data can remove saves, and private browsing or blocked storage may prevent saving. Keep a transfer code if you want a backup.

Public data and simulation assumptions

Country and region inputs are rounded approximations around 2023, with references to UN World Population Prospects 2024, World Bank WDI, UNESCO UIS, UNODC and the World Happiness Report. They inform birth weights, life expectancy, income, education and other background conditions. Past and future eras adjust these baseline values with simplified trends. They are game estimates, not complete historical records or forecasts. Events and individual outcomes are simulated; one life cannot represent a country or community.

Eras and the public memorial

Choose the past, present, future or a random era. The simulation uses rules, an event library and randomness in your browser, without large language model calls. After a life ends, you may publish its fictional name, summary and an optional message to the memorial. Other visitors can browse stories, light candles and report posts. Multiple distinct reports automatically hide a post. Do not include personal information in a public message.

Free play

The game is available now, free of charge and without registration. Playing, local saves, recaps and the memorial do not require a paid plan or credits. No paid game plans are currently offered.
